PERTH, Australia -- The Timezone unit of Leisure & Allied Industries, headquartered here, continues to strengthen its position in India and Singapore, and has begun recovery efforts in New Zealand following the devastating earthquakes on the South Island there.

Timezone India opened its first store in Patna, the capital of Bihar state and an economic powerhouse. The company reports that this initiative, extending its penetration of the eastern portion of the country, has conferred a "first mover" advantage as it paves the way toward meeting the demand for entertainment in Patna. The new store offers a mix of games appealing to all ages, as well as a themed party room. Timezone now operates 17 facilities in India.

Timezone Singapore marked the recent holiday season by opening four stores in December and January. Heralded by extensive advance publicity that generated substantial interest, the company hosted festive openings in Anchor Point and at the West Coast Plaza before the holidays, and at Changi City Point and Katong Mall in early January.

Timezone Singapore group chief executive Sonaal Chopra recalled that, not very long ago, the company had only four outlets in the island city-state. Steady expansion culminating in the midwinter push has brought that number to 20 -- "which strengthens our market share further, and makes us the dominant player in the country," Chopra said.

Timezone New Zealand, which closed a number of its stores in 2011 as a result of the severe earthquakes in Christchurch, is looking forward to a happier 2012 as it starts to open new satellite locations in the country. Now open for business is a fun center on the nation's Lower North Island, featuring two lanes of "Highway Bowling," plus a kids' play area, Jungle Rama, indoor basketball, cricket and netball court. Complete food and beverage service is provided by a full bar, a restaurant and a cafe.

Timezone runs 224 FECs in seven countries.
