VERNON HILLS, IL -- Incredible Technologies reports that its Golden Tee Live golf simulator passed a new milestone on March 6 when online Prize Play contest No. 2,000,000 was fought out on the virtual Highland Links course. Some 50 pro skill bracket players from around the country joined the affray throughout the evening. At the end of the duel, virtual golfer Sharoll W. of Alpharetta, GA, topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of -14.
IT noted that the landmark online event took place during Golden Tee's 25th anniversary. The popular golf game made its debut in 1989 and Golden Tee Live, the wide-area networked version that enables competition in real time for players in widely dispersed locations, was introduced in 2005. GT Live is the fifth incarnation of a game that has become an amusement industry mainstay.
To celebrate the two events, IT awarded $25 to each of the 50 participants in the two millionth contest. The award has been added automatically to their player accounts, which are used to pay for future rounds of Golden Tee golf at their favorite watering holes.
"Two million online contests really is something to celebrate," said IT president and chief executive Elaine Hodgson. "It truly spotlights the strength of the Golden Tee brand, and the power and popularity of online play."
Golden Tee LIVE 2014 was released in October 2013 and has an installed base of 12,000. The 2015 course update ships in October.
