LANSING, MI -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association reports that Michigan's House Commerce Committee has passed two bills out by unanimous vote. The measures, SB 721 and 722, are designed to discourage the theft of plastic bulk merchandise containers.
If enacted, the laws would require anyone who sells these containers to plastics recycling or grinding facilities to provide identification and attest to ownership of the containers.
They are eligible to be taken up by the House when the state Legislature returns to session, and NAMA believes that they are likely to pass.
