Marcus Webb, Veteran Trade Journalist, Becomes A Director On Walker Digital LLC’s Marketing Team

STAMFORD, CT — Walker Digital, headquartered here, has appointed Marcus Webb as its director of storytelling. In his new role, Webb will be responsible for generating a wide range of marketing materials, including speeches and audiovisual scripts. He officially assumes his post on March 17.

Webb will continue to serve as music and games editor of VENDING TIMES. He is relocating to Stamford, CT, 30 miles from VT’s New York City offices, from his current home in Las Vegas.

Founded by entrepreneur Jay Walker, best known for creating Priceline.com during the tech boom in the 1990s, Walker Digital LLC is a private research laboratory specializing in the development of patents and business models based on such networking technologies as the Internet, cellphones, satellite communications, ATMs and point-of-sale devices. The new systems are designed for gaming, vending, retail and financial services, among other industries.

A skilled business journalist and creative writer, Webb’s beat covering the coin-op music and games industry has spanned more than two decades. He began his coin-op journalism career in 1985 at RePlay Magazine, where he was editor for 16 years.

Webb joined VENDING TIMES in 2001 as music and games editor, functioning as an independent contractor. For the past eight years while at VT, Webb has also worked outside the amusements industry as a public relations consultant, executive speechwriter, and editor and contributing writer for various nonindustry magazines; these include Hawaiian Style, Casino Enterprise Management, Global Gaming Business, Club Systems International and Las Vegas Home + Design. In 2005, he won an award for his screenplay “Doubting Thomas” in the national Screenwriting Expo contest. Author of two nonfiction books published under his own name, Webb also has ghostwritten several books.

“It’s no surprise that such an innovative company as Walker Digital is seeking to recruit the best available talent to advance its goals,” said Nick Montano, VT’s executive editor and vice-president. “VT is confident that Marcus will succeed in his new position and that Walker Digital will greatly benefit from his experience, energy and creativity. We also look forward to working with our colleague and friend for many years to come.”
