ELMA, NY -- The family that robs together does not stay together. Joshua and Kimberly Kloc have lost custody of their four-year-old daughter after bringing her along on an unsuccessful burglary attempt at the JCN Fun Center here at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 28.
An alert citizen noticed the family car parked where it shouldn't be after hours and called 911. Police arrived a few minutes later while the crime was in progress, finding the wife and child in the car.
Officials arrested the wife and took the child into custody. The husband escaped the arcade and tried to hide in nearby woods but was quickly apprehended.
The couple is expected to be charged with multiple counts including burglary, larceny, grand larceny and child endangerment. Their daughter has been placed in the care of relatives under the supervision of Erie County Child Protective Services.
Police said Joshua Kloc, 28, had been arrested and released on an unrelated burglary a week earlier and is now a suspect in several other petty thefts around the region.
