NEW BERN, NC -- A North Carolina woman faces felony charges for taking revenge on a vending machine after it didn’t dispense her drink or refund her money.
Police identified 43-year-old Debra Johnson as the woman caught kicking the malfunctioning beverage vender on a surveillance camera in front of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store. The footage then shows her lighting a piece of newspaper and sticking it in the machine, setting it on fire. Minutes later, the machine was ablaze.
When firefighters arrived, they extinguished the fire in a few minutes.
Johnson admitted setting the fire and now faces two felony charges: burning of personal property and burning of certain buildings. Her next court date is Oct. 26. She is in jail with her bail set at $10,000.
