Steve Zarolnick Joins The Media Stores As Senior VP

OXNARD, CA - The Media Stores Inc. has appointed Steve Zarolnick senior vice-president, according to an announcement by TMS president and chief executive officer Alan Flesher.

Zarolnick joins TMS from VENDING TIMES, where he served as vice-president of sales and associate publisher. He has more than 16 years' experience in the vending industry.

In his new post, Zarolnick will be in charge of representing the TMS entertainment media sales program to vending operators. The Media Stores offers vendors the opportunity to sell high-value merchandise , prerecorded compact audio discs and, soon, DVDs , through their glassfront snack machines, with no investment in hardware or software and no product cost.

"We are thrilled to welcome Steve as part of the TMS team, to spearhead our vending and c-store initiatives," Flesher said. "He will play a key role in educating operators about new opportunities to strengthen their bottom lines, and to move their merchandise mix toward higher price points by adding popular items at prices that their customers will recognize as offering excellent value."

The TMS vending program includes equipping the operator's machine for DEX data capture and transmission, supplying a video display system for advertising, and when volume warrants, providing an automated teller machine (see VT, December 2004). The point-of-sale video display, typically mounted atop the vending bank, also can present location-specific messages and advertise operator promotions.

A recent enhancement to the vending program is the availability to participating operators of a scent-dispersion system that uses dry cartridges to produce enticing aromas (coffee, chocolate or popcorn, for example) to spur sales in break areas. And, in very large locations, TMS is prepared to provide a dedicated machine stocked with prerecorded material, at no charge.

TMS offers a comparable package to convenience stores.

The Media Stores will display and describe its vending program at the National Automatic Merchandising Association Spring Expo in Las Vegas, in Booth 1312. The company is headquartered at 130 Lombard St., Oxnard, CA 93030, tel. (800) 363-0414, fax (805) 201-1601, and is online at http://www.themediastores.com.
