LOUISVILLE, KY -- john conti Coffee Co. reports that its dispatch of relief supplies to assist victims of the late-winter storms received generous support. The weather struck southwestern Indian and western Kentucky on the night of Feb. 29. The relief effort got under way as the roads were reopened during the first week in March. | SEE STORY

Tami Conti and Debbie Redmon played a major role in the program, driving trucks loaded with products for the devastated areas. Tami delivered two truckloads, according to company founder John Conti. One consisted of food, water and coffee; the other primarily was devoted to medical and personal-care items through pillows and blankets, underwear and socks, plastic storage containers, batteries, flashlights and extension cords to food for dogs and cats, chickens, rabbits and horses.

"When we got there the first day, there were people standing there waiting," Conti reported. "The following week we delivered one more truckload of supplies."

And the suffering continues, although it no longer is headline news, he added. "The folks are still in need. Do your spring cleaning now and drop off the excess to the Red Cross, Salvation Army or your church."

john conti Coffee Co, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, roasts more than 1.5 million pounds of coffee annually. It serves customers in Kentucky, as well as Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.
