ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL -- Incredible Technologies has announced that its classic shooting-gallery arcade game, Carnival King, is available for download as WiiWare to Nintendo's Wii home videogame console.
IT marketing director Gary Colabuono noted that the new Carnival King download for Wii is the company's second WiiWare venture. The first, Target Toss Pro: Bags, maintained a Top 5 ranking for six months on the WiiWare charts.
Like the arcade version that IT launched in 2002, the Wii version of Carnival King features three virtual amusement parks, each with four distinctively themed shooting galleries, as well as a fast-paced bonus round. Each of the 15 games features IT's signature 3D graphics and a rollicking soundtrack that "transports you instantly to the midway," Colabuono explained.
IT marketing vice-president Scott Morrison said that he believes making IT's classic arcade titles available to the home market will boost the popularity of the company's commercial products.
"If people enjoy Target Toss Pro: Bags and Carnival King on their Wiis at home, they'll be more inclined to try one of our games the next time they're out with the family," Morrison pointed out. "All this exposure has to be good for operators."
Carnival King can be downloaded from the WiiWare site for only $7, so it is affordable by everyone, Morrison added. Players can use their Wii controllers or any gun peripheral; one or two can play at a time, and online and local leaderboards make it easy to see how each player ranks against friends and family.
"We're providing a lot of entertainment for only seven bucks," Morrison said. "We think it's going to do better than TTP: Bags, which was a hit for nearly a year."
Carnival King may be previewed online at wiiware.itsgames.com.
IT's second foray into the home market has not slowed development on the company's coin-op line, Colabuono continued. He disclosed that an online-enabled version of Silver Strike Bowling, IT's realistic tenpin trackball bowler, is slated for release in the first quarter of 2010.
"Just like Golden Tee Live, every game of Silver Strike Live will count -- whether for fun or for prizes," the IT executive enthused. The original Silver Strike Bowling model made its debut in 2004.
