Mobile Caterers Head To Texas For Fall Conference And Trade Show

MADISON HEIGHTS, MI —The Convenience Caterers and Food Manufacturers Association is putting the finishing touches on its fall trade show and conference, taking place September 24-26. It will be held in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, at the Hyatt Place Hotel in the historic Stockyards district.

Highlights include an expanded trade show, four tours of local catering houses and educational programming focused on helping mobile caterers weather the current economic climate.

“We all know the economy has been less than prosperous and the best business minds in the country keep reminding us to get back to the basics. That’s what this trade show and conference will be all about,” said CCFMA president James Koppal, CS&T Wholesalers (Madison Heights, MI). “The CCFMA officers and board of directors are committed to this organization and making sure that we carry out our objective: share industry information and brainstorm to create better business practices and more prosperity for all members.”

The fall conference gets underway on Wednesday, September 24, with a board meeting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a “meet and greet” reception at 6:30 p.m.

Mobile caterers get off to a bright and early start on Thursday, departing at 4 a.m. for their first catering house tour of the United Caterers facility. Tours of Scobee Foods beginning at 7:15 a.m., JollyChef starting at 9:30 a.m. and the Mom’s kitchens at 11:30 p.m. follow, providing participants a valuable behind-the-scenes glimpse at the systems and procedures employed by each of the commercial kitchens. Showgoers have the rest of the day to enjoy local attractions, and can wind down while mixing and mingling with their peers at a 6 p.m. happy hour and 7 p.m. dinner.

Friday’s morning agenda is dedicated to education, with a general meeting scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. assembling CCFMA members for a slate of informative presentations and roundtable discussions.

The trade show will open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., offering a look at the latest in mobile catering food, drinks, supplies, equipment and services.

The fall conference culminates with an awards reception at 4 p.m., featuring live music, cocktails and refreshments, followed by a 7 p.m. closing dinner.
