CHICAGO -- Mars Chocolate North America offered a sneak peek at its Marathon Smart Stuff Bar at this week's National Automatic Merchandising Association OneShow in Chicago. It will be available for vending in June.
The new bar is an extension to Mars's popular Marathon power and protein bar line. Marathon Smart Stuff Bars are said to meet the guidelines of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, making the snack ideal for schools and other sites striving to provide "healthier" vending options.
Like the original Marathon lineup, Smart Stuff Bars leverage the Snickers brand and contain a blend of wholesome ingredients, including dried fruit and nuts.
Each bar is fortified with a blend of eight essential vitamins and minerals and is considered an excellent source of calcium. Each bar also contains 3g. to 5g. of fiber per serving.
Naturally low in sodium, the bars contain 140 calories or fewer per serving, plus 5g. of whole grains, with no high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.
They will be available in multigrain, chocolate crisp, honey graham and trail mix flavors. The multigrain variety will replace the current Marathon multigrain bar.
