Campbell Taps Morrison, A Packaged Foods Veteran, President And CEO

CAMDEN, NJ -- Campbell Soup Co. named Denise Morrison president and chief executive officer, effective Aug. 1. She is the 12th executive to fill the post in the company's 142-year history.

Morrison, 57, will succeed Douglas R. Conant, 60, who is stepping down after more than a decade as chief executive. She has more than 35 years of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. Morrison began her career at Procter & Gamble in 1975, and later held positions of increasing responsibility at PepsiCo, Nestlé USA, Kraft and Nabisco. She was a director of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Ballard Power Systems Inc.

Morrison joined Campbell in April 2003 as chief customer officer. She was appointed president of Campbell USA in 2005, and president of North America soup, sauces and beverages in 2007. Since October 2010, she has held the post of chief operating officer, leading Campbell's global businesses, including Campbell North America, Campbell International and Pepperidge Farm. She also has supervised corporate strategy, research and development, and global marketing services.
