MALVERN, PA -- USA Technologies Inc. and AirVend have entered into an agreement that broadens the cashless payment menu in USAT's ePort Connect service.
AirVend offers an Android-enabled interactive touchscreen POS device that displays nutritional information, provides cashless options, and sends real-time data and alerts wirelessly. As part of a three-year agreement, USAT, through ePort Connect, has become AirVend's preferred service provider for vending and other unattended retail applications, including kiosk, laundry and amusement industries.
EPort Connect is a PCI-compliant suite of services designed for the self-serve retail market. The package includes card processing, merchant account services, DEX data transfer, online sales reporting, settlements, over-the-air updates, machine health alerts and consumer engagement. Through QuickConnect, a Web service, USAT enables customers, developers and manufacturers to link to the ePort Connect service platform using their own self-serve retail applications or POS devices.
AirVend meets the needs for electronic media and content services, especially nutritional information, said USAT chairman and chief executive Stephen P. Herbert.
Lance Ellsworth, AirVend's cofounder and executive vice-president of business development, said his company has begun the process of transitioning to USAT's ePort Connect service.
Connections and customers to ePort Connect grew to 224,000 connections and 6,075 customers, respectively, as of Dec. 31, according to USAT.
