LENEXA, KS -- Redemption Plus has acquired Emerald Toy Co., a wholesale plush manufacturer and distributor. The move positions Redemption Plus, a 15-year-old wholesale toy distributor, as a leading supplier to amusement parks, which make high-volume purchases. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Emerald Toy specializes in soft stuffed toys for major amusement companies in North America and Europe. Since 2005, the company has established manufacturing partnerships throughout China, with an office based in Hong Kong.

Redemption Plus offers redemption prizes, novelty plush items, kits for cranes and other merchandisers, and party goods for family fun facilities and educational learning centers, as well as consulting services.

With the Emerald Toy Co. fully integrated, Redemption Plus says it is able to offer programs for customers interested in large-volume purchases. It can also supply custom-manufactured plush to meets specific sizes, price points, colors and materials. The company's U.S. warehousing operations allow quick distribution for North American customers who prefer to purchase goods domestically.

"As a direct import company without a distribution infrastructure, we always knew there would be limitations on our growth," said Emerald Toy vice-president John Sawyer. "Being part of Redemption Plus is a great opportunity for Emerald Toy to continue growing."

Over the past five years, Redemption Plus, based in Lenexa, KS, has reportedly experienced 18% average annual sales growth with total sales increasing 130% during that same time period.

Redemption Plus president Ron Hill described the Emerald Toy Co. acquisition is a natural extension of his company's direct import and manufacturing program. "Our customers have a growing need for innovative plush toys and this helps complement our existing product lines," he observed.
