BAY CITY, MI -- Amid the celebration of 30 seasons, the Valley 8-Ball League Association is calling attention to several other milestones that it will mark this year. One of them will be the association's 160 millionth league game, which is expected to happen at the upcoming VNEA 30th Anniversary International Championships.
"This event just underscores the many successes that the VNEA has accomplished throughout its storied and overwhelming history," said VNEA executive director Gregg Elliott. "This occasion is just another realized dream of the handful of operators that formed this unique association in 1980."
The anniversary tournament will take place at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from May 27 to June 5, where VNEA's 2009-'10 season will come to stirring conclusion. Organizers expect a record 7,000 players will participate in the tournament's 30 events, which accommodate four skill levels.
Sometime during the event, the three millionth cumulative championship pool match will take place. When it happens, tournament director Gary Benson, High Country Promotions, will stop all games and host a ceremony to mark the occasion. The players of the game will be presented with celebratory plaques.
