Apple Industries Offers Halloween Borders For Photobooth Pictures; Thanksgiving, Hanukkah And Christmas Will Follow

Apple photo booth, Face Place Halloween borders GREENVALE, NY -- Apple Industries has downloaded a suite of eight Halloween-themed photostrip border options to all its Face Place photobooths. The new artwork was downloaded on Oct. 1, and is free to Face Place operators as part of Apple's ongoing program of providing free software updates, reports chief executive Allen Weisberg.

During the week leading up to the big night, customers will see the themed borders appear as the first option when they reach the step of formatting their pictures in all Apple photobooths running Smile 2.0 software. These include the NGX Face Place Juke, co-created by Apple and AMI Entertainment to offer patrons of digital downloading Rowe jukeboxes the opportunity to make photobooth-quality self-portraits.

Apple's U.S. sales and marketing vice-president Mel LaForce reported that the company discovered the popularity of horror-themed picture borders last year, when the availability of the special-occasion artwork induced patrons to purchase more photos. "Around Halloween, people love to send fun pictures of themselves surrounded by cartoon vampires, haunted houses, ghosts or witches," LaForce said. "Putting our Halloween art prominently on display clearly drives more sales and repeat business for Apple operators."

The borders, all done in a cartoon-inspired style suitable for children and adults, come in two series. Set one includes a vampire of the Dracula sort holding a candelabra; a mad scientist closing a switch, a green-skinned witch stirring a cauldron and a depiction of Dr. Frankenstein's monster. Set two adds a haunted house under a full moon, a Halloween pumpkin-patch being overflown by bats, and two "Happy Halloween" greetings, one featuring a witches' cauldron and the other adorned with friendly ghosts.

The Face Place photobooth vends two 4x6" strips with four photos on each. Customers may choose the same optional border for both strips, or a different border on each. Those not desiring Halloween border art still have access to the usual classic border themes, or can choose to print with no border artwork.

Apple reports that the Halloween border art is just the beginning of the company's holiday promotional campaign. On Nov. 1, Face Place Smile 2.0 photobooths will display new Thanksgiving border themes as the first choice displayed to patrons; options also include Hanukah border themes. In 2013, Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 28, which also is the first night of Hanukkah.

Similarly, Face Place default border options automatically will begin to showcase Christmas themes on the day after Thanksgiving, and then will switch to New Year's themes on Dec. 26.
