CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association reports that it has contacted the Japanese Vending Machine Manufacturers Association to express the U.S. industry's compassion for the disaster from which Japan is now striving to recover.

The association said it believes the best way to help the Japanese people and vending industry is by donating to the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross is accepting cash donations (designated for Japan) and in-kind contributions of bulk quantities of products and of services from manufacturers, suppliers and distributors.

NAMA said it has given a donation to the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross is online at american.redcross.org, and provides facilities there for making donations.

JVMA's Takashi Kurosaki contacted the U.S. trade on March 12 and reported the likelihood of extensive damage to Japan's vending industry. | SEE STORY
