The Amusement and Music Operators Association and the American Amusement Machine Association have confirmed plans to cosponsor a combined industry trade show next year. The new show, called the "New Show," is scheduled for Las Vegas from March 10 through 12. It will be held in conjunction with Fun Expo, now owned by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
Announcing the New Show, AMOA president Gary Brewer, Brewer Amusement (McMinnville, TN), and AAMA chairman David S. Cohen, Firestone Financial Corp., observed that the agreement represents the culmination of ongoing discussion in the industry.
"With one show, exhibitor members will enjoy greater efficiencies, with dramatic savings," AMOA's Brewer explained.
"The synergy created by this joint venture will be incredible," AAMA's Cohen predicted. "The combined leadership taskforce has responded to the needs of its members."
A joint committee has been formed to oversee event planning. It's co-chaired by Frank Cosentino, representing AAMA, and Russ Mawdsley of AMOA. It includes AAMA's John Brady Jr., Jim Chapman and Chris Felix, and AMOA's John Pascaretti, Marion Paul and Andy Shaffer. The committee will hold its first face-to-face planning session at this month's IAAPA convention and trade show.
The New Show will be managed by W.T. Glasgow (Orland Park, IL), which has been producing trade shows for 20 years.
