CORONA, CA -- AVT Inc. said it has teamed up with Lunarpages (Anaheim, CA) to form a company called Automated Retail Control (ARC) that will focus on providing cloud-based management for automated retailing and compliance solutions for AVT's patented technology.

The Corona, CA, company said it has been in discussions with several large vending technology providers that have acknowledged that they have been using technology covered in its patent without being aware that they were infringing. Through the join venture, AVT is currently licensing the use of the technology to those firms as well as to new users of the system. AVT did not name any the companies who might be infringing.

ARC will give users a customizable control panel to remotely manage one or a group of vending machines. It will also be the exclusive provider of AVT's technology, which was recently granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; it covers the use of a wireless system to manage a network of remote vending machines. | SEE STORY

"We look forward to helping any company come into compliance, by offering them a license," according to AVT founder and chairman Shannon Illingworth. "Through our new company, vending operators can legally license this technology, which will allow them to manage virtually every aspect of their business through an online portal, thereby reducing their workload, increasing their productivity, adding new revenue streams and enhancing their customer's experience."

Illingworth told Vending Times that ARC modules will be standard equipment on Marley Coffee's specialty coffee machines, made by AVT, which are now being deployed on college campuses and in retail venues throughout the U.S. | SEE STORY

Founded in 1998, Lunarpages provides managed-hosting services to more than 150,000 clients. Chief executive George Natzic said the company's partnership with AVT is the "world's first complete wireless management solution" for vending self-service retailing.
