PHOENIX -- The National Bulk Vendors Association reports that the third phase of its planned organizational streamlining has been completed, with a reduction in the number of directors on its board to 15. In 2008, NBVA reduced the size of the board from 39 to 21, following a recommendation by the executive committee. The recent further reduction conforms to another executive committee proposal, made at this year's annual convention.

To affect this second downsizing, the nominating committee requested that members serving on both the executive committee and the board of directors resign from the board. As a result, two members whose terms were due to end in 2013 and two slated to serve until 2014 volunteered to step down. And at this year's election, five candidates were chosen, replacing seven directors who had completed their terms. These measures, taken in accordance with the association's bylaws, are expected to enhance the efficiency of the organization.

New board members elected at the June meeting are John Winters, John P. Winters Vending (Wayne, MI); Ken Recker, Vendomatic (Frederick, MD); Brian Kovens, A&A Global Industries (Cockeysville, MD); Matt Miller, Marzs Vending (Kingwood, TX); and Rachel Rosenberg, Top Notch Toys (Santa Clara, CA).

The National Bulk Vendors Association, founded in 1959, maintains an office at 1202 E. Maryland Ave. Ste. 1K, Phoenix, AZ, 85014. Information on NBVA programs and activities may be had by calling (888) NBVA-USA [828-2872].
