Winner Receives All-Expenses-Paid NAMA/MSU Executive Development Course

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The Southeast Vending Association is offering an all-expense paid scholarship for the 2011 NAMA Executive Development Program through its Alan Plaisted Scholarship Fund. The certificate course, presented by the vending association in conjunction with the School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University, will be held Oct. 23-27 on the university's East Lansing (MI) campus.

The scholarship winner will receive one seat at the program valued at $2,975, plus lodging and travel expenses.

The NAMA/MSU Executive Development Program is designed for senior-level executives and business owners in the vending, office coffee and foodservice industries. It provides instruction in business practices in these industries and the key functional areas of management. The program is taught by MSU faculty and industry professionals.

The Alan Plaisted Scholarship Fund was established by the Southeast Vending Association in 2009 to honor the memory of Alan Plaisted, a longtime owner of Southern Refreshment Services, active member of the Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council and past SEVA chairman. Its primary purpose is to advance educational opportunities for SEVA members.

To be eligible for the 2011 scholarship, applicants must be full-time employees of NAMA member companies in one of the six SEVA states -- Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi or Tennessee. They must also be current members of one of the six SEVA state councils: the Alabama Vending Association, Automatic Merchandising Association of Florida, Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council, Vending Machine Operators of Louisiana, Mississippi Automatic Merchandising Association or Tennessee Automatic Merchandising Association.

Selection will be made by a judging panel, based primarily on response to a 50-word essay.

Applications are due by July 15.
