SHELTON, CT -- Tomra of North America reports that Harald Henriksen has been named president and chief executive of the company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tomra Systems ASA (Asker, Norway).
In his new post, he will focus on continuing the North American unit's growth across all its businesses, including sensor-based recognition and sorting solutions, reverse vending machines, balers, compactors and processing technologies
Henriksen joined Tomra in 2004,and most recently was senior vice-president of technology. In that role, he directed the company's research and development, operations, production and project management. He and Tomra's chief executive also led the collection technology business unit. In addition, Henriksen established and ran Tomra's sales, sourcing and production activities in China.
Henriksen came to Tomra from Norway's Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace organization, where he had been vice-president of its tactical radio business unit. He is a graduate of the University of Salford (Manchester, England), where he earned a degree in electronics.
Tomra, founded in 1972, is an international leader in advanced solid-waste recycling solutions.
