LOS ANGELES -- Box Brands Inc. is taking its Burrito Box vending machine nationwide, with its first franchisees opening several new markets this fall and more on the way. And coming soon is its newest machine, which vends a hot, freshly baked pizza pie.
Box Brands launched Burrito Box in January in its hometown of Los Angeles, drawing lines of customers and media fanfare and sparking demand for the machines locally, nationwide and abroad. The first of the trendy venders operated by the company's new franchise partners will soon hit the New York City, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Wisconsin and southern Florida markets
Box Brands' Denis Koci told VT that the company's initial franchisees include a full-line vending operator managing about 10,000 machines, fast food restaurant owners and startup entrepreneurs.
"We want to partner with more vending operators as we grow our network," said Koci. "It gives them a way to bring high-quality fast food to locations like never before, including universities, which is a prime market that they already serve."
Box Brands' nationwide expansion will also mark the launch of the soon-to-be revealed 2.0 Burrito Box, which will add toasted chips and salsa and churros to the menu, along with other features the company says will make for an unprecedented unattended retail experience.
In other news, Box Brands has completed beta testing its Pizza Box vender, and says its will have a production model ready by early next year. Five years in development, the machine reportedly bakes a 10" pizza parlor-quality pie in a proprietary 800°F. oven in 90 seconds.
