Sega Let's Go Island ORLANDO, FL -- Sega Corp. and 3D International Group have successfully created a new large-format and glasses-free 3D arcade gameplay experience, according to an announcement by 3DIG.

The technology was first deployed with Sega's Let's Go Island 3D adventure simulator in Japan last summer. The game was displayed during November's IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, FL, and is now set for overseas release.

According to Sega, Let's Go Island 3D is the world's first glasses-free 3D videogame. Players inside the cabinet enclosure will feel air blown at them from four directions, making the game a 4D attraction.

Sega said several hundred units have been installed across Japan since July 2011. An earlier 2D version has been available in the U.S. since summer. | SEE STORY

The game runs on the Ringedge arcade board and is played in an enclosed cabinet with a 52/55" glasses-free 3D monitor.

Hiroshi Yagi, senior consultant for 3D projects at Sega's R&D division, said the company plans to continue developing 3D products.

3D International Group, specializing in 3D hardware and software, is headquartered in Malaysia and has additional facilities in Germany, Singapore and the U.S. Its Chromatic Light Deflector (CLD) optical element displays 3D images and video that are said to be livelier and brighter than other technologies.
