>SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Sqwishland LLC appointed Los Angeles-based SunGame Corp. to create and launch a Facebook gaming environment for its revolutionary video gaming website, which is centered around Brand Vending Product's popular bulk-vended squishy toys.
Sqwishland.com went live last July through a joint venture between Brand Vending and FunGuy Studio, a leading developer of massively multiplayer online games and mobile applications (see story).
Driving consumers ages six to 16 to the virtual world of online games, activities and challenges is Brand's perennially popular Sqwishland toy line, launched in 2006. Inside each 1" and 2" capsule containing a Sqwishland toy, kids find a secret code that can be used to unlock that particular character in Sqwishland to turn it into a virtual pet and gain access to games and interact with other players.
Graeme Warring, cofounder of the Sqwishland videogame site, said the Facebook environment for Sqwishland, which will be developed by SunGame, a social media expert, is a key strategy for growing the brand and attracting an older demographic.
Between May and August, Brand reportedly sold 29 million Sqwishland capsules, and expects to sell a total of 50 million of the soft collectible animal figures through June 2011. Brand reports that an average 2,000 people are signing up to become online players daily.
