COLUMBUS, OH -- State Rep. Matt Huffman (R-4th Dist.) has proposed a statewide ban on Internet cafés and sweepstakes videogames, according to a local NBC television station.
As previously reported by VT, locations hosting electronic sweepstakes games are currently legal. Some 819 sweeps cafés are registered with the state attorney general's office. But House Bill 386, signed by Gov. John Kasich on June 11, included a one-year moratorium on the opening of any new locations.
