5-Hour Energy Adds Variety To Bolster Glassfront Menus

NOVI, MI — 5-Hour Energy is now offering its 2-fl.oz.vitamin-based energy shot in a new lemon-lime flavor that joins the original berry-flavored version and providing additional point-of-sale materials to draw attention to the product.

With a suggested $3 vend price, shelf-stable 5-Hour Energy enables operators to profit from the booming energy drink category by merchandising the product in their conventional snack vending machines. A specially designed bottle topper keeps the bottle from tipping or spinning in the spirals.

Formulated to provide a five-hour energy boost, with none of the expected jitters or crash, 5-Hour Energy combines B vitamins, enzymes, amino acids and caffeine and is free of sugar and net carbs (See VT, March).

“We are very excited by the response we had at NAMA and by the word of mouth; operators are hearing about us before we tell them. They want to be part of the hottest retail category,” said marketing director Carl Sperber. “5-Hour Energy is still in its infancy in vending, but vending distributors, operators and brokers are calling daily and placing orders. They’re saying it’s the first new thing they’ve seen for the snack vender in a long time. We’re hearing of operators placing two facings of 5-Hour Energy and selling out in a week.”

In addition to high-impact static clings for placement inside the glass that have been available since the product’s vending launch, the company is now offering decals to be placed on the outside of the machine cabinet that draw further attention to the product and are easily removed without leaving residue. The company also is providing an L-shaped marker that hangs above the spiral adding to the energy shot’s visibility, since it has a relatively small footprint in the spiral.
