Vending Veteran And Boxer Frank Gerrard Dies At 90

TOLEDO, OH -- Frank Gerrard died at his home here on March 4. He was 90.

Gerrard had served as vice-president of Northwood Vending, based in Walbridge, OH, a village Wood Count. He also had a 30-year career with Ohio Bell Telephone Co.

Gerrard was a professional boxer in his earlier years. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and served in the South Pacific where he entertained fellow servicemen with boxing exhibitions. He went on to train fighter Pat "Spunky" Lowry, who attained world ranking.

Gerrard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nyla; sons David, Mark, Paul and Matthew; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
