Federal Agents Target Two Eight-Liner Businesses in Texas

ABILENE, TX and McALLEN, TX -- Eight-liner game centers, normally a target of county sheriffs or state police, recently came under fire from Uncle Sam in two separate actions in Texas. In both cases, gambling was merely a side issue to possible federal violations, including illegal immigration, bribery, narcotics trafficking and gunrunning.
North of Abilene, officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency raided a Jones County establishment on July 16. ICE staff declined to provide details, said local press outlets. | SEE STORY
In McAllen, FBI agents arrested a sheriff's deputy at his office in a surprise action on July 14, charging him with accepting bribes to warn eight-liner owners of impending raids. The defendant was also charged with an attempted guns-for-drugs exchange.
