SPRINGFIELD, IL -- Loyal Tyler Sprague III of AAA City Vendors Gaming (Bartonville) may become the first video lottery operator to lose his VLT license from the State of Illinois, even before the VLT market launches.

The Illinois Gaming Board awarded the operator a VLT license in January. But on April 19, the IGB filed a complaint against AAA, based on reports that the company is running illegal video pokers in private clubs, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune. Sprague has 21 days to respond to the filing or automatically lose his VLT license.

IGB chairman Aaron Jaffe used the occasion once again to charge that the state's video poker business has been controlled by organized crime for decades.

The Tribune said dozens of operators have received licenses, but only 140 locations have applied to host VLTs to date.
