NASHVILLE, TN -- The Tennessee Automatic Merchandising Association will hold its annual Legislative Day on Tuesday, Feb. 19, according to an announcement by TAMA president Dan Holt. More than 20 TAMA members are expected to meet with lawmakers and their staffs for the daylong event at the state capitol building here.

"One of our main goals is to promote TAMA's longstanding commitment to preserving consumer choice by providing customers with a variety of traditional snacks and beverages, as well as healthy items to suit their lifestyles," Holt said.

According to Holt, members of Tennessee's vending association are at the forefront of offering "healthy" vending solutions. "Specifically, we provide consumers from all walks of life, including families and children, with the important nutrition information they need to make the right food choices," he said. "We are encouraging as many of our members as possible to participate to educate our elected officials."

On the same day, TAMA will also honor the memory of Scott Young, owner of Young's Vending (Murfreesboro) and an association member, who died on Dec. 14. He was 49.

Young was also a member of the National Federation for the Blind, National Association of Blind Merchants, Tennessee Association of Blind Merchants, Feed America and World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.

TAMA will pay homage to Young's work with the state Legislature on behalf of all vending operators.
