NINTENDO MAY BUILD MORE COIN-OP VIDEOS

LOS ANGELES -- (Posted May 16) A senior project coordinator of Nintendo said yesterday at the Electronic Entertainment Expo that Nintendo is "very likely" to use its TriForce platform to release follow-up arcade games after the Aug. 25 launch of F-Zero. F-Zero was built in cooperation with Sega and runs on a hardware platform that is largely based on Nintendo's GameCube home video console. According to Nintendo's Tom Herzog, plans for more TriForce arcade games have not been announced officially but "they didn't create a whole platform for just one game." F Zero, a sci-fi themed simulator, was previewed to the U.S. trade at the Amusement Showcase International (March) in the Sega booth. More than 62,000 industry professionals from more than 80 countries are gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center this week for the ninth annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Sony, Sega, Namco and Microsoft had no coin-op games on display at this year's E3. However, leading coin-op manufacturing executives are on hand, seeking consumer software migration opportunities. E3 closes today.
