MYRTLE BEACH, SC - "Education - Your Key to Success in 2008" is the theme for the 2008 Atlantic Coast Exposition, which is set for the Myrtle Beach Convention Center here from May 1 through 3.
In keeping with the theme, event organizers have scheduled a two-day maintenance-training program for Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3. It will be taught by a combined faculty representing the major machine manufacturers, and is designed primarily for key members of an operating company's technical staff.
Other highlights of this year's ACE include many show- only specials, with discounts of up to 20% on certain orders placed during the exposition, and the popular "Biz Bits" educational events.
The ACE social calendar features the eagerly anticipated Fun Run at 9:00 AM on May 1, the Awards Breakfast at 8:00 AM on May 2 and a festive cookout with volleyball from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM that evening.
The Atlantic Coast Exposition is cosponsored by the North Carolina Vending Association, South Carolina Vending Association and Virginia Automatic Merchandising Association, and organized by a planning committee that includes operators from all three. The boards of directors of NCVA and VAMA will meet at 9:30 AM on May 1 during the show; SCVA's board meets on March 13 at Zorba's Restaurant in Columbia, SC.
Preliminary plans call for scheduling next year's ACE from June 2 through 6, and shifting the headquarters hotel to a beachfront venue. The planners point out that this change would encourage show visitors to combine the event with a family vacation.
