BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The European Vending Association has signed a reciprocal promotion agreement with the organizers of Britain's AVEX biennial convention and trade show. Sponsored by the Automatic Vending Association and the European Point-of-use Drinking Water Association, AVEX is scheduled for June 15 and 16 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The NEC is the United Kingdom's largest exhibit facility.
"The aim of this partnership agreement is for both organizations to work to mutually support their respective events," EVA explained. Teams from each organization will cooperate to make AVEX 2011 and EVA's EurOps 2011 conference, set for Portugal in April, successful for all participants.
AVEX 2011 exhibitors will include companies from all sectors, including the industry's biggest names. Every segment of the industry will be represented , from traditional refreshment vending through healthier choices to more unconventional vended products and services, as well as the fast-growing point-of-use water purification business.
EVA also reports that Astrosys International Ltd. has joined the ranks of its manufacturer members. Astrosys designs, produces and markets payment systems, including Microcoin electronic multi-coin validation equipment and the Global Bill Acceptor line of banknote recognition devices. International in scope, Astrosys maintains a robust network of offices covering Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Debbie Robb, general manager of the company's European unit, Astrosystems (Wantage, Oxfordshire, England), observed that EVA plays "a strong advocacy role with coin minting and banknote production, which ultimately benefits the vending industry as a whole." EVA membership also helps Astrosys to build its profile within the vending industry, she said.
EVA director-general Catherine Piana noted that EVA has represented the interests of the vending industry to national mints and central banks in many countries. "The input expertise of company such as Astrosys is essential to continue delivering work of high quality and credibility," Piana emphasized.
