TUCSON, AZ -- Peter Piper Pizza will open a 20,000-sq.ft. location here on Sept. 14, combining food, a gameroom, a pocket park-type Himalaya amusement ride and a full-size carousel. With seating capacity for 800 customers, which can handle up to 10 simultaneous birthday parties, the Tucson venue will be the chain's largest to date.
Heavy traffic seems assured since the store is located across the street from the popular Park Place shopping mall, officials said. Company marketing vice-president Matt Clauser told local news outlets that the facility booked its first party reservations on Sept. 1.
Peter Piper is closing a smaller store nearby, maintaining its Tucson footprint at 10 locations. Across the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico, the Scottsdale-based chain includes more than 150 company-owned and franchised stores, typically ranging from 8,500 sq.ft. to 10,000 sq.ft. These 'pizzacades' typically feature big-screen TVs, videogames, redemption attractions and areas for small children. Unlike competitor Chuck E. Cheese's, there are no kiddie playground areas.
