Videx Unveils CyberLock Cylinders For Conventional Padlock Bodies

Videx"CORVALLIS, OR -- Videx has announced the availability of its CyberLock intelligent electronic cylinders for standard padlock bodies that accept interchangeable cylinders. This widens the availability of locks suitable for expanding the CyberLock system to outdoor locations.

Typically, Videx recommends its 6-pin Schlage-compatible electronic cylinder for retrofitting padlocks, because it is designed with extra seals for water resistance and built for the vigorous indoor or outdoor use to which padlocks often are put. CyberLock electronic cylinders also include a 7-pin model with Yale 1802A hardware format.

The 6-pin can be ordered with a tamper-plug incorporated into its design. The tamper-plug is a magnetic stainless steel device inside the CyberLock cylinder that protects the cylinder from physical attack when blunt force and/or a powerful magnet are applied to the face of the cylinder.

An electronic padlock system consists of the CyberLock padlock (which has no keyway to vandalize), a programmable electronic key that cannot be duplicated, and software for managing the system. Each employee's key can be programmed with the specific access permissions needed to do an assigned task: what locks they may open, and when.

Each time the key opens a padlock, a record is stored in both the lock and key. This audit reporting of lock openings and exceptions -- such as attempts to enter without authorization -- can be especially valuable to management when security issues arise.

A key can be set to automatically expire within minutes, hours, days, months or even shift-by-shift, depending on the specific task that has been assigned to the user. A missing key can be quickly blocked from opening locks.

CyberLock padlocks are especially well suited for such outdoor applications as securing equipment and gated areas at isolated sites. Since CyberLock cylinders can be installed in the lock hardware on safes, server cabinets and other enclosures, and doors throughout entire facilities, the availability of padlocks allows operators to expand the system to outdoor applications, too.

Videx also offers a variety of CyberLock padlocks with the electronic cylinder pre-installed.

CyberLock products are manufactured in the U.S. and are shipped worldwide. Information about the new padlock cylinders may be had from Videx by calling (541) 758-0521, or visiting videx.com.
