CARLSTADT, NJ -- Betson Imperial Parts & Service Co. has become a distributor of gaming printers manufactured by TransAct Technologies Inc. for the Illinois casino market. The companies announced the distribution agreement in late January.

Hamden, CT-based TransAct designs transaction printers under the Epic and Ithaca brand names. The company's thermal, inkjet and impact printers generate receipts, tickets, coupons and register journals, among transaction records. It focuses on two core markets: banking and point-of-sale, and casino, gaming and lottery.

Under terms of the agreement, Betson Imperial has the rights to promote, advertise, market and distribute TransAct's line of casino and gaming printers to Illinois casinos. TransAct's Epic printers are used by casinos and gaming routes around the world. They are used in ticket in/out, AWP, SWP and pachinko machines, along with video lottery and fixed odds betting terminals.

"This agreement plays an important role in our plans for continuing expansion of our parts and services into the gaming market," said Betson Imperial vice-president Richard Zayas-Bazan.

Betson Imperial Parts & Service Co., a supplier of equipment parts, components and accessories to merchandise vendors, amusement operators and OEMs, is a division of H. Betti Industries. Other HBI companies include Betson Enterprises, which is North America's largest coin machine distributor, and Imperial International, a wholesaler of billiard accessories and related supplies. Betson Midwest (Bensenville) will market gaming terminals made by WMS Gaming Inc., when Illinois's VLT market goes online later this year.

TransAct's revenue for the third quarter of 2010 ended Sept. 30 was $16.4 million, a decrease of 9%, compared with $18 million in the prior-year period. The company recorded $1.1 million net income in the third quarter, compared with $1.2 million in the 2009 third quarter. TransAct's revenue for the nine months ended Sept. 30 was $47 million, a 6% increase over $44.4 million in the prior-year period.
