Taito Pacts Global VR For Rights To Frightfearland In Americas And Russia

SAN JOSE, CA -- Global VR of San Jose, CA, has announced an agreement with Taito that grants the U.S. manufacturer exclusive rights in North and South America and Russia for the eagerly awaited videogame Shh! Welcome to Frightfearland. The new Taito game made its debut at Japan's Amusement Machine Operators Union (AOU) expo held in Tokyo early this year, and was introduced to the U.S. market at the recent Amusement Expo in Las Vegas.

The new title, the latest in a series of development projects between Taito and Gamewax, features "addictive" gameplay elements, with evil adversaries that players "love to hate," Global VR reported.

Frightfearland is a two-player cooperative game, featuring high-impact design and high-definition ingame graphics coupled with a simple-to-use interface said to be suitable for players of all ages.

The players are challenged to find and rescue 100 hostages in a rundown amusement park, which requires fighting their way through "scary clowns" and other lunatic carnival villains. Each player, as one of the game's two heroes, travels through 15 distinct levels, each intricately detailed and rendered, plus a bonus level in which they encounter six "bosses" on the way to finding and freeing the captives.

Along the way, the player is treated to a number of "mini-games" in which skill and dexterity will add to the total score.

Shh! Welcome to Fearfrightland is offered with 40" or 50" high-definition monitors, and is now ready for shipment.

"We believe that this is exactly the type of game that distributors and operators have been waiting for," said Global VR president Ken Bayer. "Based on the reaction at the Amusement Expo, we expect this game to be a huge hit.  It's not the same sort of shoot 'em up the industry has seen over the past several years."
