KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- The Enforcement
Division of the Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade
seized six illegal Megatouch copies at the Holiday
Planet Family Amusement Center here. The games
were confiscated during a raid on May 3 and turned
over to legal authorities as evidence, according to AMI
Entertainment Network Inc., which manufactures
Megatouch videogames.
Bob Fay,
AMI's director of government relations, began working
with Malaysian authorities three years ago as part of
an international effort to protect the company's
intellectual property. The trade ministry seized 18
Megatouch copies last fall at five shopping malls in
Johor Bahru, a provincial capital in the south of the
country. This month's bust is the sixth in Malaysia. An
investigation looking into the source of the pirated
software continues, Fay said.
Malaysia is among the more than 30 countries in which
AMI's interactive amusement and music products are
deployed by professional vending companies.
