Stern Tron: Legacy

MELROSE PARK, IL -- Now available from Stern Pinball, Inc. is a flipper game celebrating the Disney film Tron: Legacy. Developed collaboratively with Disney Consumer Products, the Tron: Legacy game features an eye-catching three-dimensional backglass, playfield design by the fêted John Borg, and a soundtrack that includes music from the movie's original score as well as sound bites at appropriate moments during play.

Borg, who has won acclaim for his work on recent hit games, has worked side by side with Stern Pinball's design and engineering team. The art package was created by Pinball Hall of Fame artist John Youssi, and David Thiel engineered the audio.

The original Tron was released in 1982, when videogames had captured the attention of the public. The sequel, released late last year, follows the son of the first film's hero as he enters the digital universe in search of his father.

The new Stern game casts the player as Sam Flynn, battling on the Grid against a personified sniffer program, CLU, and its henchman, Rinzler. Along the way, the patron experiences multi-ball rounds themed to scenes from the film: rides the two ramps for Light Cycle battles on different levels of the Grid; is challenged to defeat the motorized Recognizer target bank to expose Rinzler's spinning identity disc; or fire the ball from Rinzler's disc, simulating a "disc war." Many play features commemorate characters in the film, including Kevin Flynn, Gem, Zuse, Quorra and CLU. A player who negotiates all the features escapes the Grid through the Portal.

The new Stern Tron: Legacy game also will be released in a numbered limited edition, with additional features. Information may be had from Stern distributors.
