CAMBRIDGE, MD -- The Maryland-DC Vending Association elected David Durnbaugh, SunDun Inc. (Beltsville, MD), president at its annual meeting here. He succeeds David Meyers, Jade's Vending (Rockville, MD). Chosen as vice-president was Scott Meskin, Black Tie Services (Baltimore); and Hugh O'Neill, Mid Maryland Vending (Thurmont), continues as treasurer.

National Automatic Merchandising Association senior vice-president of government affairs Eric Dell attended the conference. Dell delivered an overview of federal legislative and regulatory issues of concern to the industry, and updated the participants on NAMA initiatives, including the Positioning for Growth campaign.

Outgoing president Meyers reviewed the association's activities and called attention to matters demanding member attention. Ellen Valentino, executive vice-president of the Maryland-Delaware-DC Beverage Association, addressed "health and wellness" proposals affecting the vending business, including taxes, restrictions on beverages and mandates for "healthy" vending changes in local and state facilities. She also detailed the beverage association's responses to these challenges.

The Maryland-DC Vending Association, founded in 1961, is an affiliated state council of NAMA.
