National Automatic Merchandising Association, Mark Dieffenbach, vending CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association reports that Mark Dieffenbach, director of special channels for the Hershey Co., has begun his one-year term as chairman of the board.

"Mark is an industry leader with a demonstrated passion and commitment to our business," said Carla Balakgie, the association's president and chief executive. "We heartily welcome him to the role of chairman and look forward to the benefit of his vision and leadership."

"As incoming chairman, I believe it's important for us to continue to focus on our core strategic priorities," Dieffenbach said. He enumerated these as "advancing our government affairs agenda, enhancing the OneShow, increasing our focus for the coffee, tea and water sector and promoting our image through the Industry Growth Strategy."

The new chairman noted that NAMA's Positioning for Growth campaign provides the opportunity for the association to increase its investment in research, advocacy and "thought leadership" to enhance the industry's prospects for growth.

Dieffenbach, a 29-year Hershey veteran, began his career as a sales representative in Louisville, KY.

The National Automatic Merchandising Association represents the $42 billion vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries in the United States. It was established in 1936.
