NEW YORK CITY -- To show support of unsigned and emerging music artists, AMI Entertainment Network Inc. announced that it will be a sponsor of the 2010 CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival, kicking off in New York City on Oct. 19.

AMI will join representatives of Musicati, the world's first jukebox promotional service for unsigned bands and musicians, to host a nighttime showcase on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Ace of Clubs. Performances from new artists will include GunFight!, Gringo Star, The Hounds Below, Jonalee White, Rootbound, MiniBoone and Reptar.

"We are excited about the artist lineup for the Musicati CMJ showcase," said Brad Circone, president of Circone + Associates. "This is a great opportunity to help these artists be heard. CMJ also gives us a platform to make other artists aware of our unique promotional program designed specifically for indie artists."

Organizers expect the showcase to attract up to 200 music fans, industry insiders and music artists from across the country. AMI will demonstrate to them how Musicati can help promote music on jukeboxes.

Musicati is a Web-based service that provides musicians with an alternative outlet. By creating a Musicati account, artists can upload their music to thousands of AMI jukeboxes and promote their songs and upcoming shows through on-screen jukebox ads, full-motion video, posters and flyers.

"Independent artists drive the music trends of tomorrow," said AMI president and chief executive Mike Maas. "We're proud to support these groups by sponsoring one of this year's showcases."

One of the premier music events in the country, CMJ festival runs from Oct. 19 to 23 and features more than 1,200 live performances at 75 venues by acts from some 30 countries. In addition to showcases, CMJ offers 70 panel discussions on the music business, networking events and mentoring sessions. CMJ is short for College Music Journal, which is a music events and publishing company.
