WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a ruling that extends the deadline for energy-efficiency compliance testing of packaged cold beverage vending machines to Aug. 31, 2012.

By that date, all manufacturers of refrigerated can and bottle machines included in the regulation must have brought their designs into compliance if they are to continue to distribute them in commerce.

The DOE issued new rules related to vending machine energy consumption, which apply to low-volume or built-to-order cold-drink models, earlier this year. | SEE STORY
