OAKVILLE, ON, Canada -- Reunion Island Co. has expanded its Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee lineup with a Costa Rican variety.
The new coffee comes from La Hilda Estate, situated in Costa Rica's lush Central Valley region. Reunion Island attributes its clean, balanced taste to the region's rich volcanic soil, high altitude and four generations of coffee-growing experience.
"It exhibits a floral nose to start, with the sweetness of toasted almonds and a light citric finish in the cup," Reunion officials reported.
Reunion Island's Rainforest Costa Rica La Hilda is now available in 12-oz. and 5-lb. whole bean packages.
Rainforest Alliance certification demonstrates a coffee grower's commitment to protecting its environment. It also ensures good working conditions for harvesters, and suitable housing and schooling for their families.
Reunion Island promotes sustainability through a range of Rainforest Alliance, fair trade and organic coffees.
