Bundestag Legal Committee Chair Keynotes IMA

Siegfried Kauder, IMA vending DÜSSELDORF, Germany -- The organizers of next year's IMA international trade fair for amusement and vending machines have announced that Siegfried Kauder, a member of the German Parliament and chairman of its Legal Committee, will deliver the event's keynote address. IMA 2012 is set for Jan. 17-20 at the exhibition center here.

Kauder, known for his expertise in complex legal and constitutional issues, has practiced law in Villingen-Schwenningen since 1978. He consults on the training of attorneys, and is a visiting lecturer at the Villingen-Schwenningen Police College. As chairman of the Bundestag's Legal Committee, Kauder reviewed the draft of the State Treaty on Gambling and recommended that Germany's 16 states carefully consider questions that, in his opinion, affect the constitution of the republic.

The eminent parliamentarian is the latest in a long series of distinguished political leaders who have taken part in the opening ceremonies at IMA. Once again, Jan Hofer, who anchors Germany's most-watched newscast, Tagesschau, will serve as host.

IMA, which has evolved from a coin machine industry event first staged in 1978, is expected to attract some 9,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors to Düsseldorf, which is famed for its central location within the European Union's "megalopolis." The trade fair will present a broad spectrum of products and services, including gaming machines with cash winning options and a panorama of electronic entertainment, sports gaming machines, cash-management systems and equipment concepts for modern amusement arcades and family entertainment centers.

In 2012, IMA again will run simultaneously with Bowling World (first held in 2009) and Coffee World (which made its debut in 2011). Also back by popular demand is IMA's Service Solutions Village, a pavilion for purveyors of everything from facilities management, promotional products and maintenance services to vehicle leasing and credit reporting.

IMA is sponsored by the Association of the German Amusement and Vending Machine Industry, VDAI (Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie), and organized by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. Online registration is available at ima-messe.com.
