DESTIN, FL -- The Southeastern Vending Association will return to Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, located on the Florida Panhandle's coast, from Aug. 4 to 6 for three days of networking, education and recreation. SEVA unites NAMA state councils from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

The recreation program begins on Wednesday, Aug. 4, with the Wilbur Langston Memorial Golf Tournament; tee time is 8:30 a.m. A Caribbean-style buffet will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the resort's Poppy's Seafood Factory.

The business program gets underway on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. with a presentation by the National Automatic Merchandising Association. NAMA chief executive Rich Geerdes and government affairs senior VP Ned Monroe will discuss the industry's most pressing legislative issues and what the association is doing to address them. They will also explain what operators can do to lobby for change within their own states.

Following the legislative update, former NFL quarterback Archie Manning will deliver a keynote speech and meet and greet those in attendance. State meetings will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Conference-goers will reconvene for a sponsor appreciation reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. SEVA's gala game-filled sponsor night follows the reception.

Friday's program begins at 8 a.m. with an awards ceremony. The morning agenda also includes a motivational talk by national college basketball analyst Mark Adams, who will share strategies vending operators can use to "coach" their own teams, and a comedy act by the Passing Zone, a juggling duo who will put a unique spin on "the power of partnership."

After a break for lunch, the state associations will battle it out in a beach volleyball tournament that begins at 2 p.m. The convention ends on a high note with a cocktail reception and silent auction from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a '50s-themed sock hop from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Food will be served and prizes will be awarded for best costume.

Registered SEVA spouses and guests are encouraged to attend all events, including the education sessions. Children 10 to 17 years old are welcome to attend the opening night party and Friday night event at a reduced rate. A children's activity program is also available for ages three to 12 during evening social functions. The San Destin Resorts' 2,400-acre waterfront property offers many amenities.
