CARLSTADT, NJ -- (Posted April 17) Betson Enterprises has developed strong relationships with Konami Corp. and Taito Corp., two leading Japanese manufacturers that no longer maintain coin-op subsidiaries in the U.S. Under a long-term agreement with Konami and through a "virtually exclusive" relationship with Taito, Betson Enterprises will offer a number of Konami and Taito products in the North American market, through Betson Distributing, beginning with two titles this summer: Konami's "Warzaid" and Taito's "Battle Gear 3." Betson expects to market a series of exclusive titles from each manufacturer in the coming months and years.

As previously announced, Betson is also the authorized Konami parts and service company for the
U.S. Beyond that, "We have secured a long-term agreement to represent Konami on a per-piece basis, giving Betson first right of refusal for any new product," executive vice-president Bob Boals told VT. "I was recently in Japan to visit Konami and they've got some very exciting projects in R&D. So I am confident we will represent more Konami titles later on." Regarding Taito, Boals stated: "Betson has developed a virtually or functionally exclusive relationship with Taito Corp. and expects to build and ship a number of games from this company in future months and years." Boals said he has made numerous trips to Tokyo each year to build and strengthen Betson's relationships with both video game makers. Product details about "Warzaid" and "Battle Gear 3" will appear in the next print edition of VT.
