Bay Tek Terminates Distribution Relationship With Betson

PULASKI, WI — Bay Tek Games, headquartered here, announced in December that Betson Enterprises (Carlstadt, NJ) no longer retains authorized distributor status for its products. Bay Tek’s decision, which cited Betson’s increasing efforts to market its own redemption novelty products as a factor, went into effect on December 1.

Bay Tek chief executive Larry Treankler said, “Betson has obviously increased their investment in their own games, and as a result Bay Tek believes that Betson will be unable to fulfill our expectations with respect to the sales and marketing of Bay Tek games.”

Bay Tek’s sales manager, Rob Ozarowicz, added: “There is no doubt that the loss of a distributor like Betson leaves a big hole to fill. However, we have a strong core group of key distributors who have pledged not only their support, but also their increased efforts to sell more Bay Tek games.”

Bay Tek has a long track record of producing hit games in the quick-coin, prize-merchandising and ticket redemption categories, among others. Recent titles include Smokin’ Token Extreme and Hummer Off Road’N.

Betson Enterprises, a division of H. Betti Industries and North America’s largest distributor of coin-op amusement and vending machines, is the exclusive sales and marketing agent for several game developers. Key lines include Raw Thrills videogames (worldwide) and Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution (in the U.S.).

The distributor recently became the exclusive sales representative for Jennison Entertainment Technology (Daytona Beach, FL), a maker of redemption games (see VT, December).

“As its largest customer, Betson appreciated the opportunity to distribute the product line,” said Betson vice-president of sales Bob Boals. “Betson Enterprises is disappointed at its attempt to suppress our passion to help bring new, exciting products to the distributing and operating community.”

For parts and service for existing Bay Tek games, operators can continue to work with Betson or contact Bay Tek at (920) 822-3951. Parts, service and product information also is available at baytekgames.com.
