PHILADELPHIA -- Jim Clark, who recently retired as instructor at the well-regarded vending machine technicians' vocational program now conducted at Randolph High School here, is urging operators and other industry friends of the course to testify to its value.

"The program is being evaluated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education on March 6 and evidence of industry need and support for the program is not up to date," Clark explained. "I would appreciate your help by drafting a letter, reflecting your company's need for the continuation of the program and the students it serves. Please mention your company's involvement with the program over the past three years."

Those wishing to lend a hand should address their letters to:

Darryl Overton
Principal, A. Philip Randolph Career & Technical High School
3101 Henry Ave.
Philadelphia, PA 19129.

Given the short lead-time before the evaluation, Clark asks interested industry members to attach their letters to an email and send it to the following recipients:

chalewis@philasd.org
doverton@philasd.org
vendingprofessor@gmail.com
Burke204@comcast.net
profvend@verizon.net

Clark, who initiated the program two decades ago and who received consistent industry support for it, describes himself as "very happily retired," but continues as an advocate for a successful educational initiative that prepares high school students for a variety of careers in the increasingly technology-dependent vending industry.
